Check this out and tell me how ridiculous you think it is...My history teacher is offering to give 150 extra credit points to anyone who does the following: locate the phone numbers of the state capital offices for all states (except Hawaii and Alaska), call them, and ask if their state ratified the 16th Amendment. If we can prove that the 16th Amendment was not signed by 3/4 of the states of that time, then we get 150 points of extra credit. I'd probably do it, except I really dont have the money to be paying for ridiculous phone bills, as i know I'd probably put on hold by each office for like 20 minutes. What are your opinions on this project?

Whoa, that's quight a project, but for 150 points I might give it a try. Those would be pretty big bills though.

If you know anyone with unlimited long distance, you could have them three way you to all those numbers. On the other hand, long distance costs or no, you're still talking about a lot of time to make all those calls, especially if as you say you get put on hold a lot.

Yeah, without cell phones, vonage, or some such thing... the bills' large. And the project would indeed be time consuming. However, I'd probably do it. Why? Just because now I want to know!

I really need points in that class, so i think I'm gonna do it. My sister does have a cell phone with free long distance, but i doubt she'll let me use it, but since i need all the points i can get, I guess its worth a try.

Come on. Long distence shouldn't be a bitg factor on this project. There are a lot of unlimited long distence plans out there. If you don't have unlimited long distence, or a cell phone with a lot of minuts, by a Sams Club Card. They have about 500 minutes for $20. That is even enought to cover directory assistence phone calls. You can also put more minutes on your phone card if you fill it necerissery. I would do the project just because I am interested in things like that.
